This year, our books are going head-to-head in a bracket-style competition featuring our 2026 “Elite Eight” contenders! During this fun, interactive evening, families will:
🏀 “SHOOT” to see as many projects and activities as possible
🏀 “TRAVEL” from classroom to classroom to explore the competition
🏀 Discover what all the “HOOP”-la is about with this year’s book matchups
🏀 “PICK (AND ROLL)”—grab a bracket and predict the winning book as a family
🏀 “DUNK” your name into a drawing for one of THREE Reading Raffle Basket prizes
🎉 Spirit Days to Celebrate Reading Week!
We’re also building excitement all week long with two special Spirit Days:
🧦 Monday, March 2 – Crazy Sock Day
Show off your wildest, wackiest socks as we kick off our Tournament of Books!
🏀 Thursday, March 5 – Jersey or Spirit Wear Day
Wear your favorite team jersey or Goochland spirit wear to celebrate Reading Night and get into the March Madness spirit!
This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate reading together, explore creative student projects, and build excitement around great books. Whether you’re a future book champion or just love a good story, there’s something for everyone!
We can’t wait to see our River Otter families there for a night full of books, brackets, and basketball-themed fun.
