Lodge Day Recap

Goochland Elementary School kicked off its first Lodge Day of the year with a morning filled with community, service, celebration, and plenty of Otter spirit!

One of the biggest moments of the day was the official naming of our GES Otter. After students helped submit and consider name ideas, we are excited to introduce everyone to Splash! 🦦

Of course, such a special announcement called for a celebration! Students celebrated Splash’s 3rd birthday with activities centered around friendship, service, and giving back to our Goochland community.

As part of the celebration, students created birthday cards for community members who visit Goochland Cares. Our Otters also worked together to pack well over 100 Birthday Kits! Each kit included cake mix, icing, Sprite, candles, and a pan—everything needed to help another member of our community celebrate a special day. 🎂

Lodge Day also gave us an opportunity to recognize students who are living out our GES core values. More than 60 students were celebrated for demonstrating Growth and a Growth Mindset, the core value represented by our Verdant Lodge. 🌱 We are so proud of these Otters for showing that learning, perseverance, and growth happen when we keep trying, take on challenges, and believe we can improve.

The morning wrapped up with a schoolwide birthday celebration for Splash and plenty of Lodge spirit!

A special thank you goes to our wonderful parent volunteers, GES staff, students, and families who helped make our first Lodge Day such a success. From donating items for our Birthday Kits to volunteering throughout the morning, our GES community came together in a BIG way.

It was the perfect way to begin another year of learning, serving, growing, and celebrating together.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Splash! We can’t wait for our next Lodge Day! 🦦💙💚💛🩶
