Something exciting has arrived at Goochland Elementary School—our new Book Vending Machine! Through our You Otter Be Reading program, students can celebrate their reading adventures with a chance to earn a token and select a book from the machine.
The program supports our school library’s mission to maximize every learner’s potential by promoting literacy and connecting students with resources for learning and enjoyment. We want our River Otters to discover new stories, explore their interests, and build a lifelong love of reading.
How does it work?
Get a bookmark. Students will receive a reading bookmark through the school library.
Read and color. Each time students finish a book, they color a space on their bookmark.
Get a signature. A parent or teacher must sign the completed bookmark.
Enter the raffle. Students turn in their filled bookmarks for a chance to win a Book Vending Machine token. Students may submit more than one completed bookmark!
Show your Lodge pride. Students should include their Lodge on each bookmark so we can track which Lodge reads the most books.
Families can join the fun by making time for reading, talking about books, and remembering to sign completed bookmarks. Whether students enjoy funny stories, fascinating facts, or exciting adventures, every finished book brings another opportunity to celebrate reading.
