Mr. Rorrer's QUEST II students journeyed to the Red Door Escape Room in Short Pump today to take part in an Escape Room. Here they were asked to solve electronic puzzles, find hidden keys, complete physical activities, and most importantly, work together in order to successfully escape the fantastical rooms. After the rooms were completed the students were then given the opportunity to go behind the scenes with professionals within the business to see how the electronic and practical puzzles were created. It was a great time!

Today is Unity Day!🧡 This is a day when we come together and wear ORANGE to send a visible message of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. If you forgot your orange, School Counseling gave out orange items and information about how to navigate bullying, peer conflict, and unity in action. We are ALL Eagles 🦅 - we challenge you to find something in common with a new classmate, do a random act of kindness, or check in on someone who needs it today and everyday!

At our October 14 School Board meeting, we had the pleasure of recognizing outstanding GCPS students, staff, and community members who exemplify our five core values — Excellence, Courage, Creativity, Honor, and Optimism (ECCHO).

This fall, more than 50 nominations were submitted by staff for individuals who make a difference in our schools every day. From those nominations, 10 ECCHO Award winners were selected and celebrated for living out these values in all they do.

🍴 Dawg Treats is Back! 🍴

Goochland High students Alexis Phillips and Addison Bryce are sharing their love of food—and culture—through Dawg Treats, a student-led culinary project! From calzones and beef tacos to tres leches cake, they’re bringing international flavors to our home football games.

Proceeds support Goochland’s culinary program, funding student field trips and hands-on learning opportunities. You can find the retrofitted food bus near the flagpole from gate opening until the end of the third quarter. Cash and credit accepted!

The Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy has begun their reading tour visiting GES and RES. Joy among both levels could be seen and felt! GMS is building leaders!

🎨🎲 Artopoly: Where Creativity Meets Competition!

In honor of this year’s “Game On” theme at Goochland Middle School, students in Ms. Alvis’s art classes are bringing the world of Monopoly to life with an art-themed twist! Each class competes on the Artopoly board, earning moves by “SOAR-ing” with class expectations — Safety, Own Actions, Achieve, and Respect.

The game features art-inspired spaces like the Ceramic Studio and Sculpture Showroom, “Happy Accident” and “Studio Surprise” cards, and even a few trips to “jail” for forgetting to wash those brushes! 🖌️

At the end of each nine weeks, the class with the most success on the board wins a special reward. What a creative way to blend art, motivation, and fun! 🎨👏

Students had a fun-filled day yesterday! 8th graders got to tour the decorated high school hallways for Homecoming and then last block we had a pep rally! Students played a variety of games, and best of all, got to pie Mr. Gordon!

🍔🌭 Before kickoff at Goochland High School’s first home football game, our GCPS family came together for an employee cookout! Superintendent Armstrong and Assistant Superintendents Waggener and Geyer fired up the grill, serving burgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks for staff and their families. 💛🐾❤️

It was a great night of food, fun, and Bulldog spirit! 🏈
